Sporting Park

Sporting Park

Kansas City, Kansas, USA

Kansas City’s old “Livestrong Sporting Park,” once touted as the first philanthropic stadium in the world, the stadium partnered with Lance Armstrong’s iconic and globally recognized Livestrong Foundation. A portion of all the stadium’s revenue, including money from tickets and concessions, went to the foundation. That was until the Lance Armstrong admitted to cheating, then Sporting KC, severed ties with Livestrong and now the stadium is simply called Sporting Park.

It is a really nice facility and walking around the grounds there doesn’t seem to be a bad seat in the house. The fans are passionate, although some of their cheers are a bit confusing to me. They have adapted the song Shots by LMFAO as their cheer whenever there is a corner kick. They clap (when the song says “shot”) and then yell “everybody!” But they have neglected the key part of the song…shot! That’s what you want, you want your team to take shots, so wouldn’t that make more sense? Other than that, and the one fan a few rows back who yelled “Cut your hair Beckerman!” every time he touched the ball, the fans were a blast. And the stadium has free WiFi.

And here are some more shots from the game! Enjoy!
